  • WIFS weekly news #18: Learn from the best at WIFS’12

    Posted on by publicity_chair

It is our pleasure to inform that the WIFS’12 tutorials committee has had a hard time in selecting the four tutorials to be given during the first day of WIFS’12.  We received a large number of high quality proposals. You’ll see well-known researchers listed below; in addition,  the committee has tried to cover the widest range of topics of interest to WIFS’12 audience.

    This is the tutorials list:

    - “A primer on content protection systems”, G. Doërr, D. Alain, and T. Kalker.
    - “Cloud computing for network forensics”, J. François.
    - “Biometric privacy and secrecy from information-theoretical perspective”, T. Ignatenko.
    - “Uncovering the processing history of video content”, S. Milani, and A. Piva.

We hope that you consider spending one extra day in Tenerife to attend a couple of these tutorials, which will be given at very affordable prices.

In French and Spanish a tutor is also the name of the stake, e.g. the stick which is used to support the plants and show them the right direction (hence the name). We hope that the tutors of WIFS will help you to grow your future research! Image Source: http://home.howstuffworks.com/staking-vegetables.htm

Probably 99% of the Information Forensics and Security community knows about WIFS’12 now;)!

The Call for Papers has been sent to all the authors of IEEE TIFS for the last 3 years (800 addresses) plus another list of 1800 addresses of people working in Information Hiding. If you were unfortunate enough to miss the CfP, here is another one, just for you –  and don’t hesitate to subscribe to the WIFS weekly news letters to get insights on the conference by clicking on the Facebook, RSS , G+ or LinkedIn logos.

The IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security (WIFS) is the primary annual event organized by the IEEE’s Information Forensics and Security Technical Committee (IEEE IFS TC).
Being the main annual event organized by IEEE IFS TC, the scope of WIFS is broader than other more specific conferences, and it represents the most prominent venue for researchers to exchange ideas and identify potential areas of collaboration. Focusing on these targets, the conference will feature three keynote speakers, up to four tutorials, a track of lecture and poster sessions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
    Security and Privacy Analysis:
Signal and data authentication, Network security, Privacy protection, Anonymity, Computer security, Hardware security, Cloud security, Information theoretic security
    Forensic Analysis:
Multimedia forensics, Source identification, Channel identification, Computer and network forensics, Robust authentication, Counter-forensics
    Biometrics:
Feature acquisition, processing and identification, Multimodal biometric systems, Privacy, authenticity and integrity of biometric templates, Biometric forensics, Attacks and countermeasures
    Cryptography for multimedia:
Signal encryption and decryption, Signal processing in the encrypted domain, Cryptanalysis, Hashing, Authentication codes, Visual encryption, Side-channel attacks
    Watermarking and Data Hiding:
Robustness and distortion assessment, Security analysis, Steganography and steganalysis, Fingerprinting and traitor tracing, Attacks and countermeasures
    Applications:
Videosurveillance, Digital Rights Management, Content identification, Interplay of technology with legal and ethical issues
    Systems:
Architectures, Protocols, Software, Hardware and devices
    Submission of papers:
Prospective authors are invited to submit full-length, six-page papers (formatted according to IEEE guidelines), including figures and  references, to the WIFS Technical Program Committee. Papers will be accepted only by electronic submission through the conference web site. Accepted papers may be scheduled in the lectures track or in the poster session. Prospective authors are expected to present their papers at the conference.
